The Friends are just that, a group of friends who share a passion for the arts. Many of us were leaders of the Columbia Business Community for the Arts (CBCA) and over the years our association with one another has resulted in a track record of notable accomplishments dating back to the early 80’s including: The Columbia Arts Center, The Vancouver Cultural Council, ArtsCrawl and the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics.

Camas Meadows Golf Club

Website
Camas Meadows Golf Club is naturally placed adjacent to Lacamas Lake amid preserved wetlands and the beautiful towering evergreens of Southwest Washington. The course is a perfect combination of narrow tree-lined fairways, mixed with winding fairways through grassy meadows. The meadows feature a beautiful array of Camas Lillies, as well as the largest know patch of Bradshaw's Lomatium, a rare flower found in only three locations in North America. Along the way you will also enjoy the sightings of Red-tail Hawks, Osprey, Wood Duck, Grey Horned Owl and Blue Herons. It is also not uncommon to sight the occasional deer or coyote. However what makes Camas Meadows truly special is the golf course. The course features rye grass fairways and bent grass greens with water hazards, forced carries, and 50 bunkers strategically placed to make your round as challenging as you would like. All 50 bunkers are filled with imported white crushed limestone. Camas Meadows Golf Club was recently named The Best Public Golf Courses to play in the Northwest and has received a 4 Star rating from Golf Digest Magazine. Camas Meadows Golf Club is conveniently located just minutes from PDX Airport.

Clark County Republican Women

Website
Republican Women is a national grassroots political organization with about 1,800 unit clubs in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. With 100,000 members, the National Federation of Republican Women is one of the largest women’s political organizations in the country.

A woman becomes a member by joining her local club or through a National Associate membership. Members of a local club are also granted membership in their state Federation. State Federations are chartered under the auspices of the NFRW but operate under their own bylaws.

In support of the Party, the Republican Women use their resources to:

  • Elect Republican candidates to public office
  • Train campaign leaders and volunteers
  • Recruit and train for public office and other leadership roles
  • Educate members on legislative issues
  • Promote the principles and policies of the Republican Party

In working toward these goals, Republican Women concentrate their efforts in the areas of educating, communicating, recruiting, campaigning, fundraising and legislative action.

Linda Smith founded the Clark County Republican Women in 1986.  We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (except for July and August).

Clark Vancouver Television

Website
In November 1981 the City of Vancouver and Clark County, Washington, granted a joint franchise to Cox Cable to provide cable television services to 50,000 households in the City and the urban, unincorporated area of Clark County. In June 1986, Cox sold the Vancouver/Clark County system to Columbia Cable of Washington, and in November 1995 TCI of Southern Washington assumed control of the system from Columbia. AT&T Broadband, in late 1999, assumed control of TCI, and in June 2002 Comcast Corporation assumed control of AT&T.  As of December 31, 2006, there were 81,124 cable subscribers in Vancouver/Clark County. The cable system now passes 155,316 homes in Vancouver/Clark County.

Comcast is franchised to provide cable service in unincorporated Clark County and the cities of Vancouver, Battle Ground, Camas, Washougal, La Center and Ridgefield from the Vancouver/Clark County system headquartered at 40th and Andresen in Vancouver.

As a provision of the franchise agreement with Comcast, two channels are made available for exclusive use by the City of Vancouver and Clark County local governments. Such are the roots of Clark/Vancouver Television - CVTV Channel 23 and Channel 21. Both channels are programmed seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
